Jashore Medical College Journal is a peer reviewed one, published biannually in January and July by Teachers Association of Jashore Medical College, Jashore, Bangladesh. The Journal publishes editorial, original & review articles and case reports in all branches of medical sciences. The Journal accepts manuscript prepared in accordance with the ‘Uniform Requirements Submitted to the Biomedical Journals’ published in the New England Journal of Medicine 1991; 324:424-8.
Preparation:
Manuscripts should be typed on one side of white paper (size 8.5 X 11 inches) with margins of at least one inch. Double spacing should be used throughout. Each of the following sections should begin on a separate page as title page, abstract and key words, text, acknowledgements, references, individual tables and legends. Full papers should be within 4000 words.
Title:
The title page should carry (a) the title of the article, (b) name of each author with designation and academic degree (s) and institutional affiliation, (c) name of the department and institute where the work was carried out and (d) name, address, telephone no. and e-mail address of the author to whom correspondence should be made and to whom re- prints should be sent.
Abstract:
An abstract of the work should be of limited to 200 words. Should be suitable for use by abstracting journals and include data on the problem, materials and method, results and conclusion. It should contain only approved abbreviations.
Text:
The body of the text should be divided into sections with heading: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.
Reference:
For reference, use author number style (Vancouver) which is based on an ANSI standard adapted by the National Library
of Medicine (NLM). References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. The titles of the journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus. If author’s number is more than six then write “et al.” after first one or two author’s name.
Tables:
Tables should be numbered in Roman numerical consecutively in order of their first citation in the text. A brief title of each table should be supplied. If abbreviations are to be used, they should be explained in footnotes.
Illustrations:
Figures should be professionally drawn and photo-graphed. X-ray should be photographed. Photographs should be on glossy papers (Usually 5×7 inch). All photographs, graphs, diagrams should be referred to as figure and numbered consecutively in the text in Arabic numerical.
Ethical issues:
Ethical aspects will be considered in the assessment of papers and authors should indicate its methods whether permission of relevant ethical committee has been taken if needed (see the World Medical Association’s code of ethics, Brit Med J 1964; 2:177).
Submission:
Papers should be submitted to the Editor in-chief, Jashore Medical College Journal, Jashore, Bangladesh. Authors must provide a copy in electronic form (on a disc) with adequate labeling. An application form and details about submission of manuscript by the author(S) are attached in this journal at the end of it.
Covering letter:
Manuscript must be accompanied by a covering letter. This must include: (a) a statement that the work has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere (b) a statement of financial or other relationships that might lead to a conflict of interest and (c) a statement that the manuscript has been read, approved and signed by all authors.
